The suspect named after a girl followed near Home Bargains

A man has been charged after a teenage girl was followed near a Home Bargains store.

Merseyside Police received a report at around 9.10pm on Monday 17 June that a man had followed the girl near the Home Bargains store on Haydock Street in Newton-le-Willows, St Helens.




The girl was unharmed and is now receiving support from officers. Following the investigations, a man was arrested.

Yasin Hussean, 43, of Newton-le-Willows, was charged with using threatening/abusive words and behavior likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was bailed to appear at St Helens Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 30.

Commenting on the incident, Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said: “We understand the concern that incidents like this cause in our communities as this investigation continues.

“It is vital that our inquiries are carried out in full and that all information comes straight, as opposed to comments on social media which can lead to speculation. If you have any information please contact us or Crimestoppers and we will take action.”
